The Knowledge EDGE© provides the business case for learning about differences and defines the term "diversity" in a way that is easy to understand and is inclusive of everyone.
This course reveals how we are all influenced at a young age by society's tendency to "group" people together and assign specific characteristics to each group. Members of the team begin to reveal some of their personal experiences and how they have been impacted by the assumptions and stereotypes about their group.
As the profile of the American population changes, so does the responsibility of every employee to interact effectively with co-workers as well as consumers, despite any real or perceived differences. Knowledge, understanding and exposure to the dimensions of difference increases comfort and acceptance, thereby increasing personal productivity and bottom-line results. Consisting of a brief introduction and two modules that go beyond the basics of diversity, the Edge Advantage series leverages multimedia technology to create an individualized and highly interactive learning environment.
From presenting the business case to diversity along with internal and external factors that drive it, to recognizing commonly held stereotypes -- both positive and negative, the EDGE content is delivered as a highly interactive and dynamic learning experience. Visible and non-visible aspects of diversity are covered as participants learn that diversity is not about simply one or two "diversity" issues, but spans biological, personal/cultural and workplace differences.
As the course series progresses, participants are challenged to incorporate newly acquired skills into the workplace to reduce barriers as well as maximize and leverage the benefits of diversity. Since the participant is actually the ninth member of a "virtual" team, he/she actively participates with the team in making decisions, voicing opinions and responding to various “your turn” questions throughout the course as they learn how the team’s behavior increases the benefits of diversity while reducing the challenges.
After completing EDGE, organizations are better able to see opportunities for development, as well as strengths within various workgroups, allowing them to reapply best practices. Our innovative approach increases the interactivity of the content delivery by posing questions and surveys within the program series. The data is captured by our proprietary Learning Management System, ezLearnU, and provides you with invaluable feedback about the culture of inclusion inside your workforce. You will be better able to meet the needs of your workforce, as well as your consumer, viewing the collective perceptions and concerns by a variety of filters, such as race, ethnicity, gender, age and company position.
